Privacy statement
PuzzleDose (puzzledose.com) is a website with new puzzles every day. This page explains which personal data we process, why, how long we keep it and what you can do yourself. PuzzleDose is responsible for this processing. Questions? Email puzzledosegame@gmail.com.
Playing without an account
You can play all of today's puzzles as a guest. Your progress, language choice and settings then stay on your own device, in your browser's or app's local storage. We receive none of it.
What we process when you have an account
- Account details: your email address, your password (encrypted by our sign-in service and impossible for us to read), your display name and a username that is made automatically from it (only used by the system, other players never see it). Also whether you want to stay anonymous on leaderboards and who may open your profile page. We need this to make your account work. Basis: performing the agreement.
- Puzzle results: which puzzle you solved, on which day, in what time, how many points that earned, how many hints and mistakes you had and what time it was for you when you solved it. We use this for leaderboards, streaks, achievements (such as Early Bird and Night Owl) and the weekly league. Basis: performing the agreement.
- Time Trial: your attempt for each day (the day, the game of that week, how many boards you solved and when you started and solved your last board). We use this for the weekly Time Trial ranking. Basis: performing the agreement.
- Today's progress: puzzles you have not finished and words you did not guess, so you can carry on from another device. Basis: performing the agreement.
- Friends and requests, favorite puzzles, earned achievements and your league.
- Achievements with a secret: a few achievements are earned by what you do while playing, for instance waiting a minute before your first move, clearing your whole board, tapping the same square ten times, choosing a color theme or sharing a result. Of those we only keep that you did it (once) and when, not your moves or taps. Basis: performing the agreement.
- Your preferences: your language, whether unsolved puzzles are shown first and the switches for hard mode, relaxed mode and color-blind mode and how you steer Ice Slide (with the arrows or by swiping). We keep these with your account so they apply on every device. Basis: performing the agreement.
- DoseDollars and the shop: your balance, with for every credit and spending which medal you claimed or what you bought and when, what you have bought (such as a picture, frame, title, background or extra), how many streak freezes you have per game and which streak a freeze saved. We need this to make DoseDollars and the shop work. Basis: performing the agreement.
- Your look: which background, color theme and extras you have switched on, of what you bought in the shop. We keep these with your account so they can be shown on your profile page. Basis: performing the agreement.
- The day you were last active (the date only, no time). Only administrators can see it, to manage accounts and deal with abuse. Basis: legitimate interest.
- Daily reminder (only if you turn it on yourself): your browser's push address and the matching keys, the time you choose and your device's time zone, only so we can send you a notification at that time. Basis: consent. You can withdraw it by turning the reminder off in your settings.
What other players see
- On leaderboards they see your display name, time and points. If you are anonymous, a number such as "Anonymous #12" is shown instead of your name.
- Your profile page shows your profile picture, frame and title, your league, your best day score (from 16 October 2026), your longest streak, the background, color theme and extras you wear and your daily scores of the last 14 days. In your settings you choose whether everyone, only friends or nobody can open it. Only the friends of an anonymous player can open their profile page.
- A friendship only exists when both sides agree. Friends see each other on the friends leaderboards.
- Other players can never see your email address. Only PuzzleDose administrators can, to manage accounts and deal with abuse.
Technical data and preventing abuse
- We count visitors with Vercel Web Analytics. It works without cookies, does not build a profile of you and does not follow you across other websites.
- When you play without an account, we anonymously count per game per day how often a puzzle is opened or solved. Only a number is kept, nothing that could identify you.
- To prevent abuse we keep track of how often an IP address uses certain features, such as checking whether an email address already exists. Those counters are deleted after two days.
- If something goes wrong in the site, anonymous technical error reports (such as the page and the type of browser) may be sent to an error monitor. Account details are not included.
Cookies and local storage
We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. We do store things in your browser or app that the site needs: your progress, your language and settings (such as light or dark and your color theme), what you did on a puzzle today for those achievements (for that day only), a copy of your most recently loaded favorites and profile and, when you are signed in, your sign-in session. That is why there is no cookie banner.
Playing offline
PuzzleDose keeps the site and the puzzles of the coming weeks on your device, in what is called a service worker and your browser's cache, so you can play without internet. Those are files of the site itself, not data about you. If you solve a puzzle without internet, your score is kept on your device and sent to us as soon as you are back online, if you are signed in and the puzzle is still that day's.
The Android app
The PuzzleDose Android app opens the website in a window of its own. The app does not process more data than the website: the same services (Supabase, Vercel, Google for the emails) and the same data as described above. The app does not ask for access to your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone, and contains no advertising or advertising ID. Only if you turn on the daily reminder does your phone ask for permission to show notifications.
Who processes data for us
We do not sell data and we do not show advertising.
- Supabase: the database and signing in. The servers are in Ireland (EU).
- Vercel: hosting the website and the visitor counts. Vercel runs a worldwide network, so data can also be processed outside the EU with the safeguards required for that.
- Google (Gmail): sending the emails that belong to your account, such as confirming your email address and resetting your password. They come from puzzledosegame@gmail.com.
- Your browser's push service (for example Google's, Apple's or Mozilla's), if you turn on reminders.
How long we keep data
- We keep your account, results, Time Trial attempts, friends, achievements, DoseDollars, purchases, your look and settings until you delete your account.
- We keep unfinished progress for a few days.
- We keep the counters against abuse for two days.
- When you delete your account, your profile, results, Time Trial attempts, friends, achievements, DoseDollars, purchases, your look, progress and notification details are deleted immediately.
Deleting your account
On the website and in the app: go to Settings, choose Delete account at the bottom of the page and enter your password. Your account and all the data that belongs to it are then deleted immediately and for good, as described above. Can you no longer sign in? Then email puzzledosegame@gmail.com from your account's email address and ask for deletion. We deal with it within a month.
Your rights
You may see your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict the processing, object to it and have your data transferred. You change your name and email address yourself in Settings, where you can also delete your account right away. For other requests, email puzzledosegame@gmail.com. We reply within a month.
If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
Children
The site is not meant for children under 16. If you are younger, only create an account with the permission of a parent or guardian.
Changes
If the site handles data differently, we update this statement and change the date at the top.
