How to Play
Ice Slide
In Ice Slide a penguin glides across a frozen field. You pick a direction and it keeps sliding until a rock or the wall stops it. Find the series of slides that brings the penguin to the gap in the wall on the right, as fast as you can.
Rules
- Press an arrow button, an arrow key, or swipe up, down, left or right: the penguin slides that way until something stops it. It cannot stop in the middle of the ice.
- A rock or the wall stops the penguin on the square just before it. A square of bare ground (no ice) stops it when it slides onto it, and from there it can go in any direction again.
- The penguin starts in the gap at the bottom of the field. The puzzle is solved when it slides into the gap in the wall on the right.
- Your time is your score: the faster you finish, the more points you earn. Undo and Back to start do not stop the clock.
Tips & Strategy
- Work backwards from the finish: which squares in the row of the gap let a single slide end in the gap? Then ask how to get to one of those.
- Every rock is there for a reason. Ask which slide it lets you stop on, and which new directions that opens up.
- Undo a slide that leads nowhere instead of starting over; Back to start puts the penguin on the start again.
- On a phone you can switch between the arrow buttons and a swipe area with the switch at the top right of the page.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I stop the penguin in the middle of a slide?
- No. Once it slides it keeps going until a rock, the wall or a square of bare ground stops it.
- Is there a limit on the number of slides?
- No. Only your time counts, so a longer route is fine as long as you find it quickly.
- What if I slide against a rock right away?
- Then the penguin stays where it is. A slide only counts when the penguin actually moves.
