How to Play
Five Letter Word
Five Letter Word is a Wordle-style daily word game. Guess today's secret five-letter English word within six tries, using color feedback after every guess to narrow it down.
Rules

- Type any real five-letter English word and submit it as your guess.
- Green means that letter is correct and in the right position.
- Yellow means that letter is in the word, but in a different position.
- Gray means that letter isn't in the word at all.
- You have six guesses to find the word. The word is always in English, no matter which language you've set for the site.
Tips & Strategy
- Open with a word that has several different common vowels and consonants. It tells you the most for your next guess.
- Don't reuse a gray letter in later guesses. A yellow letter is still in the word, so try it in a different position.
- If a letter is yellow in the same position in two different guesses, try it in another position rather than dropping it.
- Once you have several green letters, use your last one or two guesses to solve the word rather than testing more letters.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the word always in English?
- Yes. The daily word is always English, even if you use the site in Dutch, German, or French. The play page shows a reminder.
- What happens if I don't solve it in six tries?
- The puzzle reveals the answer once your guesses run out, and a fresh word is ready the next day.
- Does Five Letter Word affect my ranked leaderboard position?
- No. Five Letter Word is a relaxed game with no ranked leaderboard and no points. At the end you see how many attempts it took, or the word if you ran out of guesses.
